What is IV therapy?

Intravenous therapy (IV) is a method of administering vitamins, minerals and nutrients directly into the bloodstream to stimulate the body’s healing systems through proper nutrition. IV therapy has the benefit of bypassing gastrointestinal absorption with the result of higher blood concentrations of nutrients than is able to be achieved via oral administration.

What is in the IV?

The combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids will vary for each individual but this list includes some of the most commonly used when Dr. Brit is formulating your IV! Vitamin C, B vitamins (B complex, B5, B6, B9, B12), magnesium, zinc, selenium, lysine, carnitine, mixed amino acids, glutathione

What Symptoms/Conditions Benefit from IV Therapy:

  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Mental health (depression, anxiety)
  • Thyroid conditions (hypothyroid, hyperthyroid)
  • Poor digestion
  • Low immune function (frequent colds or flus)
  • Brain fog and mental clarity
  • And much more!

Advantages of IV Therapy:

  • Absorption of nutrients is 100% as it goes directly into the bloodstream.
  • Bioavailability of nutrients is immediate.
  • Higher doses of nutrients can be given than possible by mouth without intestinal irritation.
  • Nutrients are forced into cells by means of a high-concentration gradient.
No first-pass effect in the liver.

    • When taking oral supplements, they will go through the liver first before going into the bloodstream. When doing IV it skips this step and goes directly into the bloodstream.
  • Easy to monitor the delivery of fluids, electrolytes, and nutrients.
  • Can eliminate the need for several oral supplements.

IV Iron

1 in 4 women are iron deficient! This is a problem. Many women do not know they are suffering from an iron deficiency and wonder why they are tired, cold, suffer from brain fog, are losing hair, feeling weak, short of breath, have palpitations and even anxiety. It is most likely an iron deficiency and we can test for that with a few simple blood tests.

Iron deficiency is so common as is an easily blocked mineral and you have to have the right internal environment for it to be absorbed (i.e.. good gut health). Some individuals do not respond to taking oral iron. To top it off, most women lose 1mg of iron per day when they are having their period. This is not okay…. But don’t worry we have a solution!

Iron infusions are a safe and effective way to get iron levels up typically with a single infusion for people who aren’t able to effectively take oral iron. For the average individual (depending on the root cause of the iron deficiency) the infusion will last someone for 1-2 years.

The process is very seamless:

  • We get blood work done to determine whether you are iron deficient.
  • Make sure you are a candidate for IV iron.
  • Do the iron infusion (takes approx. 60 mins).
  • Do follow-up blood work in 4 weeks.

If you are ready to start feeling amazing and get rid of your iron deficiency this is your sign to book in for the iron IV screening call to see if an iron infusion is right for you!
