Dee Dorrance

Registered Acupuncturist and Certified Holistic Nutritionist

I am a Registered Acupuncturist and Certified Holistic Nutritionist based in Toronto. I graduated from Eight Branches College of Eastern Medicine and the Institute of Holistic Nutrition with first class honours, and have completed over 2000 hours of clinical training.

My mission in my practice is a simple one: to help you feel healthier and more empowered in your body so that you can thrive in all aspects of your life. I have a particular interest in digestive, reproductive, and mental health, and have experience treating a wide array of conditions including IBS, PCOS, Endometriosis, PMS, irregular or lost cycles, fatigue, insomnia, stress and anxiety.

I approach treatment through a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) framework, informed by a biomedical understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. I am passionate about creating personalized and effective care plans for each individual patient that addresses their own unique needs, using a combination of modalities including acupuncture, nutrition, cupping, gua sha and body work. All of my treatments take into consideration the connection between the body, the mind and the spirit.

I am deeply passionate about helping you heal and reach your health goals without judgment, restriction or shame. I practice from a holistic, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens in a 2SLGBTQIA+ positive space.

More about my story

When I was a teenager, and well into my twenties, I struggled with at times debilitating digestive issues, as well as an array of hormonal imbalances that resulted in me losing my menstrual cycle for over a year. I was diagnosed with IBS and PCOS, but I wasn’t given much guidance about what exactly I could do to get better.

Bottom line – I know what it’s like to feel frustrated, hopeless and unsafe in my own body.

Intuitively, I knew that the signs and symptoms of disease I was experiencing during these years must be connected. I grew curious and started asking questions, doing my own research, and turning to experts for guidance and support. Ultimately, it was weekly acupuncture sessions plus changes to my lifestyle and diet, that slowly but surely started bringing my body back into balance. After years of discomfort, my digestive symptoms started to go away, my period came back and my energy returned in full force.

I felt empowered. I felt connected to my body, and its innate ability to heal. I felt safe in my body for the first time in a long time.

If you’re reading this, it might be because you’ve had a similar experience in your body. I want you to know that you can heal, you can feel better, and you don’t have to do it all alone.

If you’re curious about working together, I’d love to hear from you. Please reach out with any questions.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, I can be found playing outdoors with my friends, crafting up potions in the kitchen, or nestled into a big, comfy reading chair with a book and a mug of matcha in hand. In true Capricorn form, I take my hobbies seriously, am relentlessly curious and am never not learning something new 🙂
