Raye McAvoy, NP
Nurse Practitioner
I have been a nurse for over 11 years, and have spent my entire career working with and advocating for women and their families. I worked as a registered nurse for five years, specializing in women’s health including high risk prenatal and postpartum community nursing, as well as obstetrical nursing. I then decided to further my studies and pursue my Masters in Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner professional degree at Queen’s University. I have spent the majority of my NP career in Primary Health Care, with a heavy focus on women’s health. My area of expertise is with diagnosis, management and monitoring of a variety of conditions including; menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain, mood disorders, perimenopause, menopause, osteoporosis, insulin resistance, chronic pain disorders, and many more primary care concerns. I have acquired additional training in contraception modalities including subdermal implant and IUD insertions, and have additional training in pelvic organ prolapse management including pessary fitting and pelvic floor function. I also have a strong interest in sports injuries and joint pain. I am trained in intra-articular joint injections to assist in the management of a variety of joint pain conditions.
I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my patients and their stories that led them to Advanced Women’s Health. I understand the frustrations many women face in their health care journey; I am here to offer a patient, kind, evidence informed, and holistic approach to your diverse health care needs.
When I am not working with Advanced Women’s Health, I work in a busy Primary Health Care clinic in Napanee and also teach in the Nurse Practitioner program at Queen’s University.
I am passionate about overall wellness and work life balance despite my busy career life. In my free time, I keep company with my husband, children, and two golden retrievers. I am a marathon runner and a newly committed ultra-marathoner. I truly look forward to working with you and setting goals together!
